Delete Your Account

You can request deletion of your The Book Care account and its associated data at any time. This applies to accounts created on the website and in The Book Care mobile app.

How to request deletion

1. Send an email to protection@thebookcare.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request"
2. Send it from the email address your account is registered under — this is how we verify the request is really yours
3. We will confirm receipt and process the deletion; no reason or justification is required

What is deleted

• Your account and sign-in credentials
• Your email address, name and contact details, and account identifiers
• Your registered book records (titles, ISBNs, and related metadata)
• Your scan history, monitoring configuration and manual exclusions
• Detection evidence that was never used in a dispatched notice

What may be retained

DMCA takedown notices that were already dispatched on your behalf are formal legal declarations made under penalty of perjury. For each dispatched notice we retain, under legal hold: the record of the notice itself (recipient, subject, the URLs it identified and its delivery status), the evidence exhibit it was sworn on (including the captured screenshot), and the ownership and perjury attestations that authorised it (the typed legal name, and the IP address and device details captured at the moment of signing). These records are moved to a separate archive keyed by a pseudonymous identifier — they are no longer linked to your account or its identifiers — and are kept for as long as required for legal compliance and dispute resolution, even after your account is deleted. The same applies when you delete a single book. These records are not used for any other purpose.

How long it takes

Deletion requests are processed within 30 days of verification. Once processed, the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone — your registered books stop being monitored and your data cannot be recovered.
